Needs a Name

I had no idea what to title this just because a lot has happened since my last post. Ammon got into preschool!! We're so proud of our little boy, he's been going since the Monday after his birthday. A bus comes and picks him up each day except Wednesday (at the recommendation of the school district) and each day I ask if he wants to go to school and he runs and gets his shoes and coat and we'll go out and wait for it and he spends a few hours there, then comes home via the bus and starts crying when it pulls away and he doesn't want to come inside. He LOVES it, I haven't gone over to the preschool to see him yet, but the notes that his teacher sends home say that he hasn't had any problems. He meets with a speech therapist at the school for at lease 45 minutes per week and he has shown dramatic improvement from what I can see. A huge triumph is he can count up to 10, it's so cute how he says it. My favorite number is 7, him saying as "seben". He has given up naps and will only take one about every 4th or 5th day, but for my sanity, he still has his "rest" time from the time he gets home till 4, so he can calm down from the day and the real fun begins. He has yet to show any interest in potty training, but I'm hoping that he'll make it a wonderful Christmas present for me, but we'll see.
Waiting for the bus 10/25/11
Hayden is almost 3 months old! I can't believe it. With both boys it seems like the weeks just fly by. He can almost roll over, I don't know if that's common for his age but he's doing it nonetheless. He's gotten onto somewhat of a routine where he wakes up at about 7:30 and is awake until about 9 then sleeps until about 10 then goes back down at about 12:30 (Ammon's preschool) and will sleep until about 4 then goes to sleep at about 6:30 until about 9:30 then is up until 1 or so. It's very nice and I'm able to get stuff done while Ammon's in preschool, most days anyway. He loves to smile and will play "stick your tongue" out with Adam. He already loves Ammon. Last night while we were reading (all in our bed) Hayden was jsut smiling at Ammon it was the cutest thing, and Ammon still loves holding Hayden and is so gentle with him. Hayden is Ammon's budder or baby.

Adam has started back at the job he had last fall and is very glad to be back there. School is going and going. We calculated it out that if everything is laid out right and the classes are in the right semesters (let's hope) then he'll graduate next December. YIPPEE!! The long awaited day is finally within the light! He hasn't decided if he's going to go for his master's and so I'll be starting up again very slowly of course to get a degree in early childhood education (I know I finally decided, but better late than never right?). Today is our 4th year anniversary and unfortunately we can't really do much because of school, but we'll be going up to Bear Lake during Christmas break so we'll celebrate it soon.
Halloween wasn't really celebrated here, Ammon didn't want to get dressed into his costume to go trick or treating and so we didn't go. We didn't get anybody at our house even though we were prepared for them (I think our hill of a driveway keeps everyone at bay. Oh well... maybe next year.

Little Things

Ammon and I were playing with the camera the other day when I was taking pictures of Hayden for the birth announcement (oh here's the finished birth announcement):

anyway, Ammon LOVES the camera, and so I always am taking pictures of him and his funny faces that he gives, but the other day he gave a priceless face that I wanted to share:
Taken: 9-8-11
oh I love this kid!!!
Adam is now fully into the fall semester with a full class load and work. On those days we don't see him hardly at all and other days he needed to study. And since we really don't have a "spot" for him to study until the basement is finished, I would like to take the boys and go somewhere or do something so that Ammon's bestest buddy in the world can study without being colored on. So today we are making an apple a day and I'm going to laminate it then write an activity or craft to do for that day (thanks Whitney for the idea!!!) to keep him busy and we can have soemthing fun to do together, especially since he isn't getting all of my attention with Hayden around and some days I'm sure feels neglected and just needs some love.
This coming week we are going to be getting Ammon tested for the state preschool for the Early Intervention that he's in. I'm hoping that he'll be able to get into it just so that he gets more help from teachers who know what they're doing rather than just me, although I have to give myself some kudos because over the last couple weeks Ammon's been saying a lot more words. The more recently found words include: outside, shoes, and juice, so there is improvement so we'll see what happens, if he doesn't get in we'll look into other preschools around here.
Hayden is as cute as a button, but with a funky sleep schedule still. He wakes up and is fully alert from about 10pm until 2am so I'm exhausted and tired during that time and have recently just been on the couch with him on my chest watching Gilmore Girls on dvd (I'm in need of a new series to get on dvd any suggestions?) and talking to him until he conks out and I can go to bed to wake up at 5 or so to nurse then 9am to start the day. Hayden LOVES being on his tummy, and goes to sleep more quickly on his tummy. I know they say to put the baby on his back to sleep but I gotta do what I gotta do so I put him on his tummy and then once he's gone I flip him back over to his back and he usually is content for the duration of the nap. He rarely sleeps in the bassinet and his car seat as become the bed of choice with the least amount of fussing. He's also a binky lover, having a binky in about half the time he's awake.
I am feeling as good as new but know that I still need to take it easy, but it's still hard to do sometimes. I've started another blog to keep all the ideas that I come across for the boys to do or that I want to do all organized so it's easy to get some ideas. I'm also busy keeping up with the house and the mountain of laundry that comes from Hayden and Ammon put together.

Ready for Fall

It's been forever since my last writing. Changes have happened since I last wrote but this post would be really long if I were to update everything. Hayden has now arrived! He was born August 11th at 10:58am 7lbs 8ou 22 inches (I know he's a long boy!!), he's now almost 3 weeks and let's just say that it's gone by fast, I don't know whether it's from the lack of sleep and all the days merging all together or if that's what happens when your days are just really busy, either way I'm really excited for fall to come.
With fall comes school, Adam has started a new semester, taking 14 credit hours. He's be busy with work and school and we will hardly see him on Tuesday and Wednesday, but with that comes one less semester SCORE!! and closer and closer to graduation. I can already tell that those 2 days are going to be very long and bedtime will come early for everyone. Adam hates his current job down in Salt Lake and so he's been applying elsewhere and has had a couple interviews within the last week. We're really hoping that he gets a job with  Digis (internet company) as an installer. The pay is a lot better and the hours are good, with only a Tuesday day class being interrupted, but the teacher said that he could do that online, so grateful for the internet, the blessing it is!! Adam is also busy helping out his dad getting the house ready to sell. Don't know when, but moving we are, we'll stay in the house until it sells, or if we can get the financing we might buy it from his dad, but we'll see.
Ammon is starting school too!!! I feel way old now! With Ammon in the state program for his speech he qualifies (after some tests) to go to the state preschool, but a fun little tidbit is that some gals from the ward are all getting together and doing our own preschool for the kids. It's so much fun getting ideas from around the internet for preschool. And I also get a small preschool budget to buy stuff and that just has me pumped. We are continuing with the speech therapy at our house until he turns 3 in October and then it's so long to the therapist becuase he'll be going to the preschool and getting more individualized help. Ammon is getting better with some words but he's not progressing like they would like to see. The therapist wants him to get his hearing tested to see if there's a processing delay or something along those lines, but the bad part is that they only do the testing once a month and they aren't doing September so we have to wait until October to get it done. So that's just a waiting time bomb. We'll take what comes but I hope that isn't nothing or nothing too serious.
I am recovering from the c-section (unplanned) and probably doing more than I should,  but I swear I've been bitten by the cleaning monster and it's hard not to do it and just rest, but I do try my best. Some days are better than others and for the bad ones I have the pain killers. It's really hard not being able to do pick  up Ammon if he needs some loving or when he gets hurt-which he did just this last week, by falling off of a swing and biting his lip-and I'm just counting down the days for the 8 week postpardum check-up for the all clear from the doctor, but he said that the stitches inside will take 4-5 months to heal so it's still going to be a long road before I'm as good as new.

Ultrasound

We had a very busy day today. First we had an ultrasound, checking Hayden's weight, measurements, anatomy, etc. And he's just perfect, 10 fingers, 10 toes, kidneys, heart beat is perfect, growing very nicely. So yippee. I would include pictures however instead of a cd they actually gave us a dvd instead. Adam is going to play with some program to get some stills so we can post them. But he's healthy and growing well, currently weighing 2lbs 13ou. We'll be going to the OB/Gyn next week to get the results of the nasty glucose test.
Ammon's speech therapy/transition meeting was today was well. The first "real" meeting will be on Tuesday with them coming to the house. We are going to start working with him on repeating and describing stuff as we see it throughout the day. Ammon does seem to be getting better with the speech and trying to pronounce more words. Only time will tell.
Adam is applying to a job with the Ogden School District, planning to bug them until they give him a job. It pays very well and after just a couple months of working there we will move down to Kaysville to be closer to Salt Lake for any future positions in Salt Lake, and it's only 20 minutes from Ogden so either way we are good for commuting.

Doctors

We have had more doctors appointments this month  than I'm sure last year combined! Ammon's follow up appointment was today. His doctor is keeping him on the asthma medicine for now as it seems to help with the coughing. We have another follow up the end of June. Instead of just tablets to take, we'll also be doing a tube/mask thing too a few times a day, so we shall see what comes from it.
Ammon's speech therapy is beginning next week with a meeting with the school district and with his therapist, I think it'll turn out well, as Ammon is getting better at saying words, not so many but still more than a month ago.
I also had a doctor appointment this week, Hayden's due date has been moved up again to August 12th. We have an ultrasound next Wednesday to make sure everything is all good. We are getting excited and anxious with having a new little one in the home, but  we can't wait to meet him!
Adam is still jobless but has applied to a TON of places, we're hoping to get him into something soon.

Speech Therapy

We took Ammon to the pediatrician for an overall checkup, to look at a cough he's had since about December and him not talking so... overall checkup: he is in the 80% for his weight and 75% for his height and it seems he's gained inches the last couple weeks just with the way he's been eating. His cough, the doctor wasn't sure exactly what it was, but because Vance has asthma and it's in the family he gave us some samples to try for Ammon for asthma, and it seems to be helping. The talking, the doctor referred us to the state clinic for him to get evaluated and tested and then if he qualifies, someone will come to the house and give us activities and work with Ammon for his speech so we'll see what comes from it.

Ammon's Binder-Alphabet

For the inevitable tears and a possible computer crash I wanted to put up a little binder that I'm making for Ammon for church and on the go into the cyber world. The first thing I made was a reusable sticker book, score. It has already been a hit. This website has instructions if you want to do it as a book but I just have three pages in a 3 ring binder, I used 3 hard felt sheets, plain computer paper, ribbon, wax paper and sheet protectors(to go into the binder). The second is this alphabet:
